Mayor Edgardo Labella issued a memorandum that there will be no more Christmas Party in all departments in this year.
"There will be no Christmas Party as a gesture of sympathy for difficult and trying times," said Labella in a press conference on Monday, October 26, 2020.
The allocated budget for the Christmas party will be realigned so it can be used to purchase goods for selected sectors.
"The P5 million for the Christmas Parties, we see to it that this shall be converted for the purchase of relief packs for those who are adversely affected by the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic,” he added.
Instead of the party, the Cebu City government will be giving Christmas goodies to the underprivileged like rice to the side walk vendors, jeepney drivers and habal-habal drivers.
