Today, October 15, marks the seventh anniversary of one of the strongest earthquakes in history that crumbled buildings, cracked roads, and the saddest part were lives that dropped like flies. We were taught to drop, cover, and catch, but at the earth-shaking momentum, we were unable to comprehend life. A thousand spring of life were stopped from growing.
It was not just the destruction of infrastructure that we laid our hands on and dropped a sweat to build it, but also the dreams we dreamt together with our beloved. That has shattered us. Leaving us nothing but our dreams, slowly fading as we see our people dying. No matter how furnished and well-built, just like buildings - we crash.
And just like buildings that fell and crashed, we construct a much better one. We may not be able to cover the wounds, but we are to heal.
Now, we create aesthetic life way far from that yesterday. Today, we cherish the life that was once in danger. We are capable of getting up and remembering how good we were after the tragedy.
Lives and hopes that were once hopeless are to be celebrated. Cheers to us on this day for making it through.
The prospect of experiencing it again will not scare us away from living today. In the end, it's not the years of life that counts. It's the life in our years.
